Dear valued backers all:
By now, all US supporters of this project should have received their copies of the Spine of Russia book, for those who pledged at that level. If you didn't get your copy yet, let us know. We have tracking numbers (also posted in Backerkit) and can run it to ground.
International supporters, your copies are en route and should arrive shortly. We expect to get final confirmation that copies have cleared outbound customs today or tomorrow, which means they should be in everyone's mail boxes by the end of August (or so we am told; your results may vary depending on your home country's postal service).
Again, thank you everyone for your patience and support. It's hard to believe we did this whole trip, created two books and got delivered to everyone within one calendar year.
MEANWHILE, you can help the Spine grow by (a) telling people you know (anyone have Oprah's number?) about the book and sending them the link to purchase: spineofrussia.org; and (b) reviewing the book on Amazon and/or our website. (For those who purchased a copy of Driving Down Russia's Spine, you can review it on Amazon here, and our website here.) Reviews are particularly important, decisive really, in helping people decide whether to purchase the book...
Sincerely,
Paul and Mikhail
p.s. We are in the process of fleshing out and developing Phase 2 of the Spine project, and will be sure to let everyone know when that is ready.

“Whatever happened to those two guys who drove the length of Russia?! And where is my book?!”
Rest assured, dear backers, we have not been idle this winter. On the contrary.
First, here's a quick update:
The book’s texts have all been composed and are now being translated.
We have made our first difficult cut of the thousands of photos captured during our month-long trip, and are working on the final cut this week.
The book’s designer is at work, and progress is good.
We hope before long to be able to report that The Spine of Russia is on its way to the printer.
Our 40+ heroes
Meanwhile, enjoy this overview shot of all our “heroes” from the trip, whose portraits will form the photo book’s backbone. (Taken while we were sorting through the first round of images, deciding what order to place the heroes in.)
Second, after poring through our photos, we have settled on 11 for our “Roads Gallery.”
These are images that we feel are the sort that someone would want to hang on their wall. If you qualify for a free print or framed print because of your backing level, we will be in touch with you separately about making your choice of photo.
Meanwhile, everyone can peruse the gallery and order prints for their home directly from the online gallery.
